  • On 31 January, because of Maulana Maududi’s illness, the Executive Council elected Mian Tufail Muhammad as Acting Ameer.
  • The late Chaudhry Ghulam Muhammad represented Maulana Maududi at the Amman Conference and the Mu’tamar-e-Alam-e-Islami.
  • Jamaat remained at the forefront of the Movement for the Restoration of Democracy against Ayub Khan’s dictatorship.
  • Maulana Maududi was arrested for opposing the government’s announcement of Eid without confirmed sighting of the Shawwal crescent.
  • Relief goods worth Rs350,000 were collected for displaced Palestinian and Arab families following the Arab-Israeli war. The government did not allow the relief goods to be delivered, and they were eventually deposited in the official relief fund.
  • Under the editorship of Professor Khurshid Ahmad, the Karachi monthly Chiragh-e-Rah published a special issue on socialism.
  • Kisan Board was established, and Muhammad Ashraf Bajwa was appointed its first president.
