Historic Milestone
Yaum-e-Shaukat-e-Islam
- Yaum-e-Shaukat-e-Islam was observed and proved highly successful.
- Student unions were restored. Hafiz Idrees, Tasneem Alam Manzar Shaheed and Ijaz Shafi Gilani were elected presidents of their respective universities.
- Abdul Malik, the Nazim of Islami Jamiat-e-Talaba at the University of Dhaka, was martyred.
- Muhammad Ismail, a Jamaat worker from Gujranwala, was martyred.
- An armed Awami League attack was carried out against Jamaat’s gathering at Paltan Maidan in Dhaka. Three Jamaat workers were martyred and approximately 1,000 people were injured.
- Jamaat participated in the general elections. Candidates were fielded for 79 National Assembly seats in West Pakistan. Jamaat received two million votes, and four candidates were elected.
- A provincial organisational system was established. Syed Asad Gilani became the first provincial Ameer of Punjab. Khan Sardar Ali Khan was appointed Ameer of the Frontier Province. Maulana Jan Muhammad Bhutto was appointed Ameer of Sindh. Maulana Abdul Aziz was appointed Ameer of Balochistan.
