Tafhim-ul-Quran completed
- The “Bangladesh Unacceptable” campaign was launched.
- Maulana Maududi sent letters to 250 heads of state and influential international personalities seeking the release of 90,000 Pakistani prisoners held in India.
- Tafhim-ul-Quran was completed on 7 June.
- Mian Tufail Muhammad was elected Ameer-e-Jamaat for the first time.
- Dr Nazir Ahmad, Member of the National Assembly, was assassinated.
- The first serious conflict between Sindhi- and Urdu-speaking communities took place, leaving 55 people dead. Professor Ghafoor Ahmad played an important role in securing a settlement between the two sides. Mian Tufail Muhammad undertook two extensive tours of Sindh.
- Chaudhry Ghulam Jilani became Ameer of Punjab Province.
