Partition and Jamaat split into two
- With the Partition of India on 14 August, Jamaat-e-Islami’s organisational structure was also divided into two separate parts.
- Work for the rehabilitation of refugees began on 1 September.
- Maulana Maududi’s first address was broadcast by Radio Pakistan.
- Jamaat offered its services to the Chief Minister of Punjab, Nawab Mamdot, for promoting the ideology of Pakistan, defending the country, assisting refugees and supporting the liberation of Kashmir.
- Islami Jamiat-e-Talaba Pakistan was founded on 23 December. Zafarullah Khan became its first Nazim-e-Ala.
