Jamaat-e-Islami banned

  • General Muhammad Ayub Khan, Commander-in-Chief of the Pakistan Army, obtained the resignation of President Iskander Mirza.
  • Ayub Khan became the Chief Martial Law Administrator. All political parties were banned.
  • All Jamaat-e-Islami offices were closed, the Bait-ul-Mal was frozen and organisational records were seized.
