22-point constitutional draft and Punjab elections
- Religious scholars unanimously presented the government with a 22-point constitutional framework.
- Jamaat declared both the Anglo-American bloc and the communist bloc to be corrupt and corrupting forces.
- The second All-Pakistan gathering was held at Kakri Ground in Karachi.
- Jamaat-e-Islami participated in the Punjab elections. The government closed Jamaat’s newspaper, while the press effectively boycotted the organisation. A campaign of false propaganda was also conducted at the government’s direction. One Jamaat representative was elected.
- At that time, the total number of workers stood at 3,500. A further 1,700 workers joined, and Jamaat received approximately 225,000 votes. The election campaign cost Rs127,000.
