Hafiz Naeem Elected 6th Ameer

Jamaat continued large-scale demonstrations for Palestine in Islamabad and the provincial capitals.
In the general elections held on 8 February, 3 Jamaat candidates were declared successful in provincial assembly in Sindh and Balochistan, while the party alleged that several of its NA & PA candidates had been denied victory through manipulation.
Jamaat maintained that disputed results should be corrected on the basis of the original Form-45 records.
Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman relinquished the Sindh Assembly seat awarded to him, maintaining that the seat had legitimately been won by another candidate.
In April, Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman was elected the sixth Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan for a five-year term.
Jamaat organised a major 14-day sit-in in Rawalpindi against high electricity bills, unjust taxation and exploitative IPP agreements.
The government agreed to establish a task force to examine IPP agreements, reduce electricity charges and provide tax relief to salaried citizens. Subsequent restructuring of IPP agreements was reported to have produced savings of more than Rs3 trillion for the national exchequer.
In September, thousands of students participated in Bano Qabil aptitude tests in Karachi for free IT training.
Palestine Solidarity Day was officially observed on October 7. With the efforts of the Amir Jamaat, an All Parties Conference was held at PM house and chaired by the Prime Minister.
In October, a Jamaat delegation led by Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman met Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim during his official visit to Islamabad.
