Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman has said that the country is in the worst governance crisis, the economy, agriculture are in decline, unemployment is increasing, capital is moving out. In the new local government system of Punjab, the people are powerless, and the process of horse trading through non-party elections, which was previously limited to the national and provincial assemblies, is now being brought down to the ground. Nationwide sit-ins will be held on Sunday, December 21 in favor of the empowered local government system. The future course of action will be given on the day of the sit-ins. The movement for the rights of the people and against the outdated system will gain further momentum. The Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami expressed these views while addressing a press conference in Mansoura. Naib Ameer Liaquat Baloch, Deputy Secretary General Azhar Iqbal Hassan and Ameer Lahore Ziauddin Ansari Advocate, Secretary Punjab Province Babar Rashid and other leaders were also present on the occasion.
Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman said that after the 18th Amendment, powers were transferred to the provinces, the next step was to transfer these powers to the local government level, but this process was stopped, the provincial governments have taken over the powers, local government elections have not been held in Punjab for the last ten years, the recent local government law of Punjab is a black spot on the local government system. I wonder why other parties are not raising their voices against this black law. The Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami said that the PPP has been in control of Sindh for the past seventeen years, Bilawal Bhutto talks about the NFC award and asks for his share from the federation, but by participating, he himself becomes in control of it. He should tell why his government has not spent the Rs3,360 billion allocated for the development of Karachi on the city in the last fifteen years. PTI has been in power in KP for the past twelve years, but in practice, the powers are not in the hands of the people but of the bureaucracy. After the schedule of local government elections was released in Islamabad, the ministers held a press conference saying that they are changing the local government law. He said that the resources are in the hands of the civil and military bureaucracy, a few politicians, capitalists and elders. In this situation, Jamaat-e-Islami has decided to work with the people to free the country from the clutches of the elite and the outdated system.
Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman said that the gap between exports and imports is increasing. Unemployment is increasing and capital is flowing out. The poor state of the economy is clear from the recent IMF report. The national economy suffered losses of thousands of billions due to RLNG contracts. The government has banned the increase in local gas production, and no major foreign company participated in the recent auction of gas discovery reserves.
The Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami said that the PDM government has destroyed agriculture, the agriculture sector has suffered a six hundred percent decline in the last two to three years, the price of agricultural chemicals and fertilizers is many times higher than in India. Farmers do not get the right price for wheat and sugarcane crops, the cotton crop is constantly in crisis. He said that today is the International Farmers' Day, in this regard, the government has issued big advertisements and claims have been made, however, the ground realities are the opposite, the process of destruction of both farmers and agriculture is ongoing. Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman said that at a grand public gathering, Jamaat-e-Islami had announced the launch of the Badal Do Nizam movement. This movement of public awareness will continue vigorously.
In response to questions from journalists, Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman condemned the ban on advertisements by a major English media house and said that the government wants to control the freedom of the media through advertisements. He said that Jamaat-e-Islami wants to protect the rights of independent media and journalists. Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman also strongly condemned the state violence against the sisters of the founder of PTI and the dismissal of PASSCO employees. Terming
