Democracy cannot end at the federal and provincial capitals. Citizens should have elected local institutions capable of addressing the services that shape everyday life.
Jamaat-e-Islami calls for meaningful implementation of Article 140-A, timely local elections and political, administrative and financial authority for elected local governments. In late 2025, JI launched province-wide protests against Punjab's new local-government law, followed by district sit-ins and a public referendum campaign for empowered local government.
