Sheikh Ahmed Yassin

Biography & Religio-Political Contribution: Sheikh Ahmed Yassin (Shaheed) was the visionary founder and spiritual leader of Hamas (the Islamic Resistance Movement in Palestine). Despite being a quadriplegic since his youth, he mobilized the Palestinian masses into an organized, religiously driven resistance movement. He shifted the Palestinian struggle from secular nationalism to a sacred Islamic duty (Jihad fi Sabilillah). 

Impact on the Ummah: Sheikh Yassin restored the centrality of Al-Aqsa and Palestine to the global Ummah. By resisting the heavily armed Zionist state from a wheelchair, he shattered the myth of Western-backed Israeli invincibility and imbued generations with the spirit of martyrdom and unshakeable faith. 

Connection with Jamaat-e-Islami: Ideologically rooted in the Muslim Brotherhood, Yassin’s vision was seamlessly aligned with Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan. JI recognized Hamas as the legitimate vanguard of Palestine. Former JI Amir Qazi Hussain Ahmad maintained deep fraternal ties with the Hamas leadership. Upon Sheikh Yassin’s assassination, JI organized massive nationwide protests in Pakistan, declaring him a shining icon of Islamic revival whose blood would ignite the liberation of Al-Quds.
