Mohamed Morsi

Biography & Religio-Political Contribution: Dr. Mohamed Morsi (Shaheed) was Egypt’s first democratically elected civilian president and a senior leader of the Muslim Brotherhood (Ikhwan al-Muslimoon). His presidency, though short-lived, aimed at breaking foreign dependency, restoring constitutional Islamic identity, and backing oppressed Muslims globally before he was overthrown in a Western-sanctioned military coup and martyred in court. 

Impact on the Ummah: Morsi’s steadfastness during years of solitary confinement revived the spirit of resistance against global imperialist designs. He showed the Ummah that true leadership chooses martyrdom over submitting to corrupt secular-military juntas backed by Western powers. 

Connection with Jamaat-e-Islami: His political ascension was celebrated by JI Pakistan as a victory for the global Islamic movement. Morsi maintained deep mutual respect with JI leadership; Syed Munawar Hasan met and supported his democratic mandate. Following his martyrdom in 2019, JI Pakistan organized nationwide Ghaibana Namaz-e-Janaza (funeral prayers in absentia), declaring him an iconic martyr who sacrificed his life for Iqamat-e-Deen.
